Cherie Mannino has been studying and practicing meditation for more than 30 years. As a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Cherie is an expert in the design and implementation of programs utilizing mindfulness based cognitive therapy for stress management and emotional regulation. She utilizes a holistic and strength-based approach to health and wellness, blending her background in mindfulness, hatha yoga, and counseling to support Mindfulness in Motion participants in their journey towards stress-managed living.
A native of New Orleans, it is no surprise that Cherie spends her free time pursuing her passion for music, doubling as a pianist and professional jazz & blues vocalist. She also enjoys spending time with her family, outdoor adventures, and Cajun dancing.
Lisa Thornton, PhD studied Clinical Health Psychology at The Ohio State University and is actively involved in the world of integrative health and wellness. She served as a Postdoctoral Fellow and therapist for several Stress and Immunity Cancer Projects at OSU, the Spirit for Strength Project, and designed & delivered Living Well, a mindfulness-based stress management intervention for women with recurrent cancer. Lisa is trained to deliver various mindfulness-based interventions, including Mindfulness in Motion, From Cancer to Health, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.
Lisa has completed more than 700 hours of silent, teacher led meditation retreats. She enjoys running, reading, existentialism, kayaking, and travel in her spare time.
Lori Bower is a certified Urban Zen Integrative Therapist, Restorative Yoga instructor, and Mindfulness expert. She completed her yoga certification at Yoga-on-High, studied Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction through Duke Integrative Medicine, and currently teaches Mindfulness in Motion to city government employees. Lori made her mark in the yoga community developing and implementing a yoga program for seniors at Gahanna Senior Center and teaching a restorative yoga class.
Lori enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling, and studying aromatherapy.
Sharon is a veteran when it comes to the world of integrative therapy and intervention. She has extensive experience with mindfulness-based stress reduction and yoga therapy. Upon receiving her certification from Yoga on High, Sharon began teaching yoga as part of an Ohio State University research study designed to examine the effects of yoga on fatigue, immune function, and mood in breast cancer survivors. She specializes in vinyasa flow, a style of yoga that emphasizes breath-synchronized movement.
Sharon’s passion for yoga, cooking, and biking reflect her deep commitment to health and wellness. When she is not busy teaching yoga for research studies, biking Pelotonia, or whipping up a nutritional wonder, you can find Sharon with camera in hand and her labs, Jiff and Bogey, by her side.
